The Epilepsy Sensor provides an early warning for individuals prone to nocturnal tonic-clonic seizures. The sensor is placed between the sheet and the mattress sends a message immediately through to a Carer Alert or through to Eldercare’s Control Centre when a seizure is detected.
Who Is It For?
Those wishing to live independently with epilepsy
Any individual that may suffer from nocturnal tonic-clonic seizures – there is no weight restriction with the sensor so it is also suitable for children.
How Does It Work?
The Epilepsy Sensor can assist by:
Detecting tonic-clonic seizures while the user is in bed
The sensor works by monitoring an individual’s movements, including respiration and heartbeat, while they are sleeping and is able to differentiate between normal movements and those that occur during an epileptic fit.
Please note that, depending on the user’s need and the severity of their condition, it may not always be possible for Eldercare’s Control Centre to respond quickly enough to alerts. In these cases we would seek to alert local carers rather than our Control Centre.
Eldercare can also provide a wrist-worn epilepsy sensor that can detect seizures throughout the day. Please contact our advisors for more information.
