For those individuals that would like to use a mobile phone, but the idea of a smart phone is a daunting one, Eldercare are happy to offer the Ownfone Handset.
OwnFone is a mini, light, customisable mobile phone that just calls the people you need. It is ideal for people who don’t need or can’t use a smartphone.
Who is it for?
OwnFone is ideal for those who have dexterity issues or visual impairments, which make using a standard mobile phone more difficult. Also for those who find smart phones too complicated to use. In fact, OwnFone is an ideal solution for anyone who wants a phone free from complications. The ability to get hold of important contacts with just the press of a button enables independence while offering up the reassurance that friends, family, carers and other contacts are at hand.
How Does it Work?
To make a call, simply press the name or picture of the person you want to call. You can have up to twelve names on your OwnFone and it receives calls too. It’s about the size of a credit card and comes with a matching lanyard so you can keep it on you at all times.
The OwnFone is tailor-made for each service user, and can have either the names or photographs of the designated contacts printed on the front of it. It will be delivered to you ready to use, with no setup and within five working days. The OwnFone comes fully charged and with its own micro USB charger included. The charge will last about three days, although for simplicity we advise charging daily.
With an OwnFone, you simply select up to 12 numbers and we pre-programme them into the handset. You can choose to have names or images on the buttons and you simply press a button to make a call. To answer just press the Answer button.
